Oklahoma City Comets Hosting Home Run Derby X At Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark

The Oklahoma City Comets, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, is due to host the 2025 Home Run Derby X at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark as one of the tour’s six stops this year.s

The competition comes to Oklahoma City on Aug. 23, with former Dodgers All-Star Adrián González, Nick Swisher and Jocelyn Alo among the players scheduled to participate.

Other players expected to appear include Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hansen, Amanda Lorenz, Kasidi Pickering, Ella Parker and Reese Atwood.

The Home Run Derby X, which began in 2022, is a 3-on-3 competition led by an MLB legend and female player from softball and women’s baseball.

What separates HRDX from the traditional Home Run Derby, among other factors, is the inclusion of defense. A single game takes an estimated 30 minutes.

Each player gets one at-bat that lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds. During an at-bat the opposing team is in the outfield to make catches.

Teams earn offensive points for home runs and defensive points for catches. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins.

The winning teams from each stop and two Wild Card squads will advance to the final, which is set to take place from Sept. 19-20, at The Ballpark at America First Square, Salt Lake City, Utah, home of the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees (Los Angeles Angels affiliate).
