With the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium, the team is holding a special event Tuesday afternoon to officially launch the countdown and reveal details regarding the week’s festivities and fan initiatives.

Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten, L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti, Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, Trea Turner and Walker Buehler are among those due to appear.

Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis and former SportsNet LA reporter Alanna Rizzo are serving as emcees of the press conference, and MLB chief operations and strategy officer Chris Marinak also will be on hand.

MLB Network is televising the 2022 All-Star Game press conference, which begins at 2 p.m. PT.

The All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium this season will be the first since 1980. Overall, it’s the fourth time the Dodgers have hosted a Midsummer Classic.

In addition to 1980, they previously held the honor in 1949 (Ebbets Field) and 1959 (Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum).

The 2020 MLB All-Star Game was scheduled to be played at Dodger Stadium, but the signature event was canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

When is the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium?

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game is being played Tuesday, July 19. The 2022 MLB Futures Game will also be played at Dodger Stadium, taking place on Sunday, July 17. The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday.

Nike designing All-Star jerseys

One of the biggest attention-grabbers of the 2021 MLB All-Star Game were uniforms worn by players and coaches. For the first time since 1933, MLB abandoned their tradition of having players suit up in their own team’s threads and instead had Nike make All-Star Game jerseys.

Nike has long been working on All-Star Game designs for Dodger Stadium, which presumably will take inspiration from the local community and ballpark.
