Miguel Rojas Potentially Hints At Final Decision For Retirement

3 Min Read

When Miguel Rojas re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a one-year contract, it was accompanied by announcing the 2026 season would be the last of his career.

Rojas revealed he intended to retire at the end of this year and then move into the Dodgers front office. But the veteran infielder recently cracked the door open to continue playing in 2027.

He said consideration would be given to doing so if the Dodgers completed a three-peat and thus were in position to continue defending their title next season.

Is Miguel Rojas retiring or coming back?

While there are several months and plenty of baseball to be played for the Dodgers, it’s possible Rojas shared a new update on his retirement plans.

He posted a carousel of pictures on Instagram to highlight some of the memorable moments so far in 2026. Among the pictures Rojas shared were of his son throwing out the first pitch, Alex Call working on his swing through the Apple Vision Pro headset, and teammates attending Will Smith’s third annual comedy night event.

But what stuck out most was Rojas’ message.

“Through up and downs I find happiness in the little things that happen when you least expected ❤️‍🩹,” Rojas wrote in the caption.

“Keep living life because we never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow 🥹

“Miggy Ro Last dance 🕺🏼”

The heartfelt caption seemingly includes a reference to Rojas’ father tragically suffering a heart attack and passing away in April. The Dodgers were in Toronto for the end of their road trip, and Rojas wound up remaining with the team rather than taking any sort of bereavement leave.

Some of that is presumed to have been tied to Venezuela tradition of a burial and funeral services being held the morning after a death.

Rojas plans to speak with family

Rojas including a “Last Dance” mention can be taken as an indication of sticking to his original plan.

And although Rojas expressed a potential willingness to put off retirement and continue playing in 2027, he said that decision wouldn’t be made without first speaking with his family.

As for more of the immediate future, the Dodgers are continuing to rely on Rojas for production off the bench and a leadership presence in the clubhouse.
