The Los Angeles Dodgers have inched closer to full health over recent weeks and that was expected to continue in the coming days with Max Muncy and Tommy Edman both coming off the 60-day injured list.

However, the team now is dealing with a potential Freddie Freeman injury on top of Tyler Glasnow going on the 15-day injured list with right elbow tendinitis.

Freeman suffered a jammed right middle finger on Saturday and was kept out of the lineup for the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals because the swelling had worsened and Freeman is unable to grip a bat. X-rays on Saturday were negative, but Freeman now is scheduled to have a CT scan once the Dodgers return from their road trip.

Given some of the uncertainty with his status, which technically remains day-to-day, manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers plan to activate Muncy before Monday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, as seen on SportsNet LA:

“It’s a thought. We are having Max take some ground balls today over there (first base) with OKC. We will get him to Los Angeles tonight with the possibility for an activation on Monday.”

The original plan was for Edman to join the Dodgers roster for the series opener at Dodger Stadium and Muncy returning Tuesday. Both players have spent the past week on respective rehab assignments with Triple-A Oklahoma City over the past week.

That started in Oklahoma City, but the Dodgers’ top Minor League affiliate has been playing in Las Vegas since last Tuesday. That’s included the first opportunity to meet — and play against — Oakland Athletics prospect Max Muncy, who not only shares the same name but birthday with the Dodgers veteran.

Muncy was not in the OKC lineup on Sunday night before making the short trip back to Los Angeles.

Through six games with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club thus far, Muncy has hit .286/.375/.476 with one double, one home run, four RBI, three walks and six strikeouts.

All but one of his starts have come at third base.
