The Los Angeles Dodgers have scored in the late innings through the first two games of their homestand and now are in position to complete a series sweep of the Seattle Mariners.

With their latest win, the Dodgers improved to 22-12 against the American League this season, which is the fourth-best Interleague record.

The Dodgers entered Wednesday with the best record in baseball at 75-52. While it’s on par with expectations, the reality is the Dodgers have dealt with a rash of injuries and had a losing record during the month of July.

L.A. has welcomed back multiple players from the injured list over recent weeks and are 12-6 in August thus far. They also have been boosted by the arrival of Jack Flaherty at the trade deadline.

Flaherty is 2-0 with a 3.78 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in three starts for the Dodgers. Wednesday’s game is another opportunity for the Burbank, Calif., native to start at Dodger Stadium, where he attended games as a young child.

Flaherty thoroughly enjoyed making his first Dodgers home start that included receiving a standing ovation.

The Mariners counter with Logan Gilberto, who is 7-9 with a 2.96 ERA in 25 starts this season. Although the right-hander is enjoying a strong season, he has allowed at least three earned runs in two of his last four starts.

Miguel Rojas was in the original Dodgers lineup before getting scratched shortly after it was released. Tommy Edman is back at shortstop for a second consecutive game after making his Dodgers debut in center field.

Rojas has played in 11 games (10 starts) since returning from a right forearm strain, but Wednesday is the second night in a row he is not playing.

Manager Dave Roberts deemed Rojas as being “fine” but noted his left hamstring was feeling a little “balky.”
