The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Andre Jackson to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations, their second such deal in the past week.

Last Thursday, the Dodgers traded Tayler Scott to the Boston Red Sox for cash. Both Scott and Jackson had been designated for assignment, with the former removed from the Dodgers’ 40-man roster on June 17, and the latter three days later.

The Dodgers DFA’d Jackson in order to call up Ryan Brasier from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Bryan Hudson was optioned in order to make room for Brasier on the active roster.

Jackson at the time was with OKC, as he had been optioned June 11 as a corresponding move to the Dodgers selecting the contract of Adam Kolarek.

It was the fourth time Jackson had been optioned, which left him with just one more before reaching the limit of five Minor League options per player in a single season.

Jackson didn’t have a decision in seven appearances for the Dodgers this year, but recorded two saves and pitched to a 6.62 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Both of his saves were three innings.

While with Oklahoma City this season, Jackson went 1-1 with a 5.86 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 11 games (one start).

Dodgers stats: Andre Jackson

The Dodgers selected Jackson in the 12th round (370th overall pick) in the 2017 MLB Draft. Jackson made his MLB debut during the 2021 season, which included making history in his first game.

Over parts of three seasons with the Dodgers, Jackson went 0-1 with four saves, a 4.15 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 14 games.

In his Minor League career, Jackson is 18-20 with one save and a 3.99 ERA in 97 games (81 starts). This season marked the first time Jackson primarily fulled a bullpen role while in the Minors.

The Pirates optioned Jackson to Triple-A Indianapolis upon acquiring him in the trade with the Dodgers.
