The 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium was the most-attended series of ballpark events since the festivities were hosted at Yankee Stadium in 2008.
Over a three-day span of All-Star events at Dodger Stadium, MLB announced 152,182 in attendance. That began with a paid attendance of 49,565 for the MLB Futures Game to kick off All-Star Saturday.
The All-Star Celebrity Softball Game was also that night, and it had considerable buzz thanks to Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny participating.
Next up was the Home Run Derby, which drew a crowd of 50,099 to watch some of the sport’s best sluggers launch balls into the pavilions. Then came the All-Star Game, which had the largest crowd of the three marquee events, at a 52,518 draw.
Home Run Derby ratings
Along with the Home Run Derby airing on ESPN, an alternate Statcast broadcast was available on ESPN2. Per MLB, that drew 858,000 viewers, making it the most-watched Statcast simulcast of the Home Run Derby since the format debuted in 2018.
Play Ball Park & All-Star Oceanfront
Fans also turned out in droves to MLB’s community-based exhibits, with Play Ball Park at the Los Angeles Convention Center and All-Star Oceanfront at Santa Monica Pier and Beach drawing a combined 151,600.
Play Ball Park was open for four days, from July 16-19, and Oceanfront All-Star ran from July 15-17.
2022 MLB Draft at L.A. Live
All-Star Week Los Angeles also featured the first time the annual MLB Draft was held outdoors. Held at Xbox Plaza on the L.A. Live campus, the Draft drew more than 1,000 fans and 200 members of the media, both of which were records.
All-Star Game merchandise
Dodger Stadium set an All-Star record for merchandise sales at a ballpark, surpassing the previous record by more than a 60% increase from Yankee Stadium revenue in 2008.
Additionally, the MLB store operated by Fanatics inside Play Ball Park set an all-time sales record. All-Star Game merchandise sales on MLBShop.com and Fanatics recorded the highest totals in history and were up +57% from 2021.

Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation in the community
Dating back to 2020, when the Dodgers originally scheduled to host the All-Star Game, MLB, the team and Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation completed more than $6 million in contributions for local non-profit organizations.
The 2022 All-Star Legacy initiative addressed equity gaps in sports-based youth development, education, homelessness and military veterans’ issues. The Justin Turner Foundation contributed to the renovation of Volunteers of of America Transition House in Skid Row.
