The annual Los Angeles Dodgers dress-up day was held last weekend for the team’s final flight out of California this season as they made their way to Arizona.
Some of the costumes included Trea Turner dressing up as “Jordan Belfort,” the main character in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman paired up to go as Tiger Woods and caddie Steve Williams, and Tony Gonsolin and Alex Vesia went as “Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy,” from “Spongebob Squarepants.”
A group of players also dressed up as some of the main characters from the classic baseball movie “The Sandlot,” which included Miguel Vargas as “Benny ‘The Jet’ Rodriguez.”
Vargas agreed to play the part even though he had never seen the movie, so he watched it before dressing up, via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

So Vargas rented the movie to watch before dress-up day. His review “I liked it. It was good. It was funny with the kids trying to get that ball back.” 2/2

Dodgers dress-up day has historically been reserved for rookies, where Vargas still would have participated, but in 2019 the team expanded it to include all players before skipping it in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Although Dodgers manager Dave Roberts did not participate in dressing up, he gave “The Sandlot” group that featured Vargas along with Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor his vote as the top costume.
Cody Bellinger misunderstood Justin Turner’s Dodgers dress-up day choice
Cody Bellinger, Joey Gallo, Andre Jackson and Justin Turner dressed up as Chippendales dancers. However, Bellinger was under the impression he was partnering with Turner to go as Chip ‘n’ Dale, the famous chipmunks who are Rescue Rangers.
That prompted Bellinger to raise questions and express confusion with teammates over the outfits associated with the dance troupe.
