Tyler Glasnow was in the midst of an excellent first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers before a right elbow injury prematurely ended his 2024 season.
Glasnow did not pitch again after Aug. 11 as was placed on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow tendinitis. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said at the time that the decision was made out of precaution, although Glasnow felt he could continue pitching.
The 31-year-old’s recovery went slower than anticipated, but he did eventually progress to facing batters, only to be shut down while warming up for a simulated game. A subsequent MRI revealed Glasnow had a right elbow sprain that ended his season.
During a recent appearance on “Foul Territory,” Glasnow said his elbow has completely healed and he will be ready to go for the 2025 season:
“I actually just got re-imaged recently, and I haven’t thrown in like a month, and it looks like it’s pretty much fully healed. … I’m just excited that I’ll be good to go for next year. … As of now, I just had it re-imaged and they said it looks awesome, so it’s healed fast and looks really good.”
Glasnow’s elbow healing on its own was the best-case scenario as there was some uncertainty over whether he would need to undergo surgery this offseason.
The right-hander can now use the full offseason to continue resting ahead of ramping up for the start of 2025 Spring Training next February.
Glasnow went 9-6 with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 11.3 strikeouts per nine over a career-high 134 innings pitched (22 starts) during the 2024 season.
He is entering the second of a five-year contract extension he signed with the Dodgers after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Glasnow would have liked nothing more than to help the Dodgers win the World Series, which is why he was frustrated by the setback he suffered in his recovery. “It’s just like, exhausting, I guess. I’ve just done this so many times,” Glasnow said at the time of being shut down for the year.
“I think it’s like, you go about it the first time, and you try to find other ways to prevent it the future. And that happens again, and you try to find more ways to prevent it, and it’s just kind of like over and over again.
“It’s extremely frustrating. I guess for me, sometimes it’s easier if you get a silver lining. This sucks. And I think this one is just a lot tougher just because I’ve done so many things in the past to try to stay healthy.
“And I think at the time now, I’m here, I wanted to come here to win a World Series and pitch in the postseason, and it’s like, right at the time where I’ve just been told I can’t do that. So this one sucks the most for sure.”
