The Los Angeles Dodgers farm system has slipped in annual rankings over the past two years by virtue of trades and graduating prospects, but they’ve had a strong showing thus far in the 2018 season.

One of the latest honors went to Double-A Tulsa infielder Drew Jackson, who was named Texas League Player of the Week for games played May 7-13. Jackson is the second Drillers player to get recognized, as Justin De Fratus was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week to open the season.

Coincidentally, De Fratus received weekly honors for the same period as Jackson, though as the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week as the right-hander is now with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

During five games over the week he was awarded for, Jackson went 7-for-16 batted .438/.571/.875 with four doubles, one home run, five RBI, five walks, and two stolen bases to boot.

Overall this season, Jackson is hitting .280/.369/.538 with nine doubles, five home runs and 15 RBI in 28 games. He’s primarily played second base for the Drillers but also made starts at shortstop and center field.

The Dodgers acquired the 24-year-old, along with Aneurys Zabala, from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Chase De Jong in March 2017.
