Less than three weeks remain in the regular season, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are still looking to get back to full health before beginning what they hope will be another successful October run.

They did just welcome back Max Muncy before the series opener against the Colorado Rockies, and Alex Vesia was activated on Tuesday, but the likes of Tommy Edman, Brock Stewart and Dalton Rushing are still on the injured list.

Edman has been out since Aug. 4, Stewart’s absence began Aug. 12, and Rushing was put on the IL this past Saturday. Rushing’s shin contusion was part of a difficult stretch for Dodgers catchers as Will Smith sustained a right hand contusion days prior, though has remained on the active roster.

Dodgers updates

Brock Stewart

Stewart suffered a setback in his recovery from right shoulder inflammation but has made steady progress since receiving a second cortisone injection.

Stewart threw a bullpen session on Tuesday that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said went well. Next for the right-hander is facing batters on Friday and that will be followed by starting a rehab assignment.

Dalton Rushing

Rushing needed to be assisted off the field after fouling a pitch off his leg. The optics suggested a significant injury, but an X-ray and CT scan both came back negative for a fracture.

That was somewhat of a surprise — and certainly a relief — to Rushing.

“Dalton is doing well. Went out and threw to bases, hit today, so I think [Wednesday] he’s going to head out on rehab assignment,” Roberts said.

“So the plan would be to get him back here some time next week.”

Tommy Edman

Edman remains on track to return and be in the Dodgers’ lineup for the series finale against the Rockies. Edman is expected to primarily play center field to finish out the season.

He’s missed just over one month due to a sprained right ankle.
