The Los Angeles Dodgers lineup received contributions throughout and started their road trip with an 8-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers collected 17 hits, led by four from Trea Turner for the first time since being traded to the Dodgers last season.
Turner extended his hitting streak to 13 games in the process. The Dodgers’ started their scoring early as Will Smith pulled a solo home run down the line with two outs in the first inning. Smith later doubled to finish among the five Dodgers with multiple hits in the win.
After the Reds took a 2-1 lead, the Dodgers got to Tyler Mahle in the third, beginning with hard-hit grounders by Gavin Lux and Turner going for singles. Freddie Freeman’s two-run double then put L.A. back ahead.
Justin Turner’s leadoff double in the fourth inning led to small ball, with Eddy Alvarez moving him over on a sacrifice bunt and Lux providing a sac fly. The sacrifice bunt was the Dodgers’ first of the season.
We'll let the performance speak for itself.

With the Dodgers still clinging to a slim lead, Freeman broke the game open with a three-run triple in the eighth inning. Smith added a sacrifice fly to wrap up their scoring.
Gonsolin leads Dodgers pitching
Tony Gonsolin allowed multiple home runs for the first time this season but otherwise kept the Reds off the board over his five innings of work. Though, Gonsolin did have his career-best streak of consecutive starts with at least six innings pitched snapped at six.
Each of the three hits Gonsolin allowed came in the first two innings. He issued a leadoff walk in the third but retired the final nine batters faced.
Gonsolin was backed by a scoreless effort from the Dodgers bullpen. Evan Phillips, Phil Bickford, Brusdar Graterol and David Price each threw one inning without allowing a run.
