The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to eight games as they completed a sweep of the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, backed by a strong performance from Julio Urías and offensive contributions from the entire lineup with all 10 players who took a plate appearance reaching base at least once.
The Dodgers got on the board first with an Amed Rosario double followed by a single from Max Muncy in the second inning. L.A. then loaded the bases when Chris Taylor walked and James Outman singled.
Although Miguel Rojas hit a pop up that was called for an infield fly, the ball was not caught and some heads-up baserunning allowed Muncy to score from third. The Dodgers nearly broke the game open when Mookie Betts smacked a line drive to the wall, but Jurickson Profar made a fantastic play to end the inning before he left the game with an injury.
The Rockies added a run back to cut their deficit in half on a single from Cole Tucker that drove in former Dodgers catcher Austin Wynns, who doubled as the second batter of the third. But the Dodgers took that run right back when Will Smith doubled and Rosario singled in the bottom of the third inning.

The Rockies tied the game in the fourth when Alan Trejo hit a two-run homer off his former World Baseball Classic teammate, but Miguel Rojas gave L.A. the lead once again in the bottom half of the inning with his second home run of the season, putting the Dodgers up 4-3.
The Dodgers extended their lead in the sixth inning when they loaded the bases on singles from Kiké Hernández and Chris Taylor, along with a walk from Muncy, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Rojas. Betts was then able to break open the game with a double that scored two runs to put L.A. up 7-3.
Taylor provided insurance in the eighth inning when he walked, stole second and third base, and scored when Rojas hit another sac fly, giving the Dodgers a five-run lead.
Urías ended up pitching seven innings while striking out a season-high 12 hitters, only giving up three runs on four hits while walking no one. Alex Vesia and Victor González reached worked a scoreless inning in relief to secure the 8-3 victory.
Dodgers placed Joe Kelly on IL
Just moments before the game, the Dodgers placed Joe Kelly on the 15-day injured list with right forearm inflammation. Kelly’s IL stint was backdated to Thursday, which makes August 15 the earliest he can be activated.
With the move being made so close to game time, the Dodgers did not make a corresponding move. They will likely recall another pitcher prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.
