Adrián Gonzalez, Eric Karros, Jessica Mendoza, José Mota and Dontrelle Willis were announced as new additions to the Los Angeles Dodgers broadcast crew. They will hold various roles across Spectrum SportsNet LA, AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio and KTNQ 1020 AM.
The Dodgers broadcast team returns Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín, Joe Davis, Orel Hershiser, Fernando Valenzuela, Charley Steiner, Rick Monday, Nomar Garciaparra, Pepe Yñiguez, Jerry Hairston Jr., John Hartung, Tim Neverett and Kirsten Watson.
González joins as an analyst for SportsNet LA’s live studio programs, “Leadoff LA” and “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” pregame and postgame shows. Gonzalez played for the Dodgers from 2012-17 after being acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox.
He reached 100 career home runs and 2,000 career hits while with the Dodgers. Gonzalez officially retired earlier this offseason.
“I’m so excited to be working on the pregame and post game broadcasts this year,” he said in a statement. “I can’t wait to reconnect with all of the great Dodger fans.”
Karros calling Dodgers games
Karros, who is the L.A. Dodgers all-time home run leader with 270, will call select home and road games alongside Davis on SportsNet LA. Karros additionally will appear on “Leadoff LA” and the “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” pregame and postgame shows. Karros has been a FOX baseball analyst since the 2007 season.
“As a kid from Southern California, I could never have imagined playing for the Dodgers, let alone having the opportunity to ‘call’ Dodger baseball,” he said. “I can’t wait to get back to work at Dodger Stadium.”
Mendoza thrilled to join SportsNet LA
Mendoza has been an ESPN baseball broadcaster since 2007. In 2015, she became the first woman to serve as an analyst for nationally-televised MLB games with the network.
Mendoza will serve as a SportsNet LA analyst in the booth with Davis for select road games.
“To broadcast games for the Los Angeles Dodgers is a dream-come-true,” the California native said.. “I grew up here and have spent a great deal of my life in this park, which was like a second backyard when I was a kid. I’m honored to join this great organization and am excited to get to work with such an amazing team of talented broadcasters.”
Mota makes jump from Angels to Dodgers
As had been previously reported, Mota joins the Dodgers after abruptly re-signing as a broadcaster with the L.A. Angels. The son of Manny Mota, José will will call select games for both the Dodgers’ Spanish and English radio stations.
“I am really excited for this opportunity to join the Dodgers and their world-class, globally-recognized organization,” he said. “I am so blessed to be able to follow in the footsteps of my father and I look forward to connecting with the Dodger fan base in Los Angeles and around the world in both English and Spanish in my new broadcast role.”
D-Train still in blue
The former National League Rookie of the Year winner and two-time All-Star will call select road games with Davis on SportsNet LA, and also appear on “Leadoff LA” and “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” pregame and postgame shows.
Willis has been a studio analyst at FOX Sports since 2015 and was hired by the Dodgers last year as a special assistant.
