Jack Flaherty Created Dodgers Smoothie At Erewhon For Important Opportunity

3 Min Read

Hot on the heels of a World Series title with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jack Flaherty has enjoyed the fanfare that comes along with it.

The 29-year-old pitched to a 3.17 ERA over 28 starts this past season and served as a stabilizing force after joining the Dodgers at the trade deadline. Flaherty grew up in Southern California, so his ties to the city and the historic franchise went beyond the field.

Flaherty has since appeared on several talk shows and podcasts, but previously set himself apart when the popular, upscale supermarket, Erewhon, collaborated with him on a customized Dodgers smoothie flavor.

Flaherty spoke about the experience and how fast the plans came together on an episode of “Run It Back” on FanDuel TV:

“We make the World Series, and one of my best friends, their family friends run Erewhon, and I happened to hang out with the family’s son as a group the week prior. So my friend’s little brother text me and was like, ‘Hey, Erewhon wants to run a smoothie for the Dodgers. Would you be interested in doing it?’

“I’m not going to say no to that, so a little bit of right place right time and knowing some of the right people. Go in and they ask me what to put in it. I’m like, ‘Let’s just make it taste good.’ We go through some bananas and protein, try it and do like an hour shoot. It was pretty cool. … I’m on a short list.”

The smoothie was available for a limited time, but on a bigger picture, Flaherty was raising money for the Tyler Skaggs Foundation.

Skaggs unfortunately passed away following an overdose in 2019. Flaherty was a personal friend of the former Los Angeles Angels pitcher, and the Erewhon smoothie was another way to aid the continued support for his legacy.

Jack Flaherty joins Erewhon smoothie celebrity list

Flaherty became the first professional athlete to partner with Erewhon, who has previously done smoothie collaborations with a wide range of celebrities, models, influencers and musicians.

Arguably the most popular and still a mainstay on the Erewhon menu is the Hailey Bieber smoothie.

Erewhon also has done custom smoothies with the likes of Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Sofia Richie and Kendall Jenner, among others.
