Playing under a dark sky because of a rain-filled day, coronavirus being declared a pandemic and the eventual indefinite suspension of the NBA season, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-1. The game was called with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning

Mookie Betts was hitless in two at-bats in his return from food poisoning. The Dodgers also welcomed back Justin Turner, as he had traveled to Southern California to support his wife Kourtney in the L.A. Marathon. Turner drew a walk in his two plate appearances.

Cody Bellinger additionally had a nondescript night, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. The Dodgers’ offense was carried by Corey Seager, and role players Edwin Rios and Tyler White, and rising Spring Training star Cody Thomas.

Seager’s solo home run gave the Dodgers a lead in the second inning, and after two batters ahead of him got on base, Rios’ RBI single broke a 1-1 tie. White and Thomas then followed with RBI base hits of their own.

Walker Buehler wasn’t overly sharp for a second consecutive start, issuing three walks and allowing three hits in his targeted four innings of work. Buehler managed to hold the Brewers to just one run — aided by his four strikeouts and a strong defensive play by Turner in the third.

Scott Alexander bounced back from his first time allowing a run this spring with a perfect inning of work. Kenley Jansen and Caleb Ferguson each allowed a hit, but both put together a scoreless appearance before the game was called early.
