The Los Angeles Dodgers fell into a big deficit for the second consecutive game and once more failed to complete their comeback effort in a 6-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. It’s their first time losing back-to-back games since July 23-25, which came in separate series with the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers have lost two games in a row to the same opponent for the first time since falling to the Kansas City Royals on July 1 and 2.
After starting their homestand with a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers have now suffered consecutive losses. Both defeats at the hands of the Braves came in nearly identical fashion.
Julio Urías wasn’t able to bounce back from a shaky performance last week as he only completed five innings and allowed three home runs.
The first was hit by Travis d’Arnaud, whose solo shot in the second inning gave the Braves a 1-0 lead. Ronald Acuña Jr. led off the third with his second home run of the series, and Marcell Ozuna followed suit to open the fourth.
Acuña then hit a leadoff double in the fifth inning and scored on Austin Riley’s extra-base hit. Ozuna followed that with an RBI flare single that extended Atlanta’s lead to 5-0.
That was more than enough run support for Max Fried, who collected 10 strikeouts over seven innings. Fried held the Dodgers to just three hits and five baserunners overall as he issued two walks.
The only threat the Dodgers posed on the night came in the seventh inning, when Amed Rosario’s single nearly sparked a two-out rally. Chris Taylor then worked a walk to put two on but Fried retired Max Muncy to end the inning.
Muncy went 0-for-3 and had his franchise-best streak of consecutive games with an extra-base hit snapped at nine. He was replaced by Michael Busch in the top of the eighth inning.
Although the Dodgers put two on in the bottom of the eighth, manager Dave Roberts had David Peralta pinch-hit for Mookie Betts and Kolten Wong bat for Freddie Freeman. Peralta struck out on a pitch that was outside the zone but Wong connected on a three-run home run in his Dodgers debut.
Chris Taylor came to the plate as the tying run but struck out swinging to end the inning.

Prior to the game, Dodgers players wore Kobe Bryant Lakers jerseys and stood along the third-base line, alternating between No. 8 and No. 24. Natalia Brant, Kobe’s oldest daughter, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The Dodgers donated $100,000 to the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation.
