The Dodgers made one of the under-the-radar acquisitions of the decade when they signed Justin Turner to a Minor League deal in 2014. After competing alongside Juan Uribe, Turner emerged as the team’s everyday third baseman.
He signed a much deserved four-year, $64 million contract over the offseason, to remain with the Dodgers. Not only has Turner increased his offensive output in recent years, but he’s also made a concernted effort to turn into a top-tier defensive third baseman.
His seven defensive runs saved last season tied for sixth in the Majors. With that, Turner has cracked the list of MLB The Show 17’s top third basemen, with an 87 rating that placed him tied for eighth.
Josh Donaldson and NL MVP Kris Bryant tied for top mark with a 94 rating. Both Nolan Arenado and Manny Machado were rated 93, while Adrian Beltre’s 89 rating finished out the top five.
Kyle Seager’s 88 rating earned him the sixth spot on the list, and he was followed by Turner, Evan Longoria (87), Anthony Rendon (83) and Todd Frazier (83).
