The Los Angeles Dodgers capped off an impressive first half of the 2017 season by completing a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals. The series sweep was the Dodgers’ 10th this season.

When Kansas City rolled into Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2003, they were on a modest four-game winning streak and had won seven of their last 10 games. The Sunday afternoon matchup saw much of the same from the Dodgers.

Clayton Kershaw threw his first complete game of the season and allowed just two runs and five hits, including a home run for the first time since June 19. What’s more, the earned run(s) allowed were his first since that same June start against the New York Mets.

Kershaw had held opponents to just one unearned run over 20 innings pitched in his last three starts. Eric Hosmer snapped the streak with a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Justin Turner’s solo home run in the bottom of the first inning gave the Dodgers an early lead, and he extended it in the third with a two-run homer. Turner had just one home run through May, granted he missed time due to a hamstring injury, and has now slugged nine homers since returning June 19.

The Dodgers extended their winning streak to six games, have won 26 of their past 30 games, and maintained the best record in the Majors by improving to 61-29. In addition, they’re an MLB-best 39-11 at home.
