Cody Belliner became the first Los Angeles Dodgers player to reach 100 RBI since Adrian Gonzalez (116) in 2014, as he delivered with the bases loaded by driving a ball to the right-center field gap during the fourth inning of the series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bellinger was credited with a three-run double as he was thrown out at third base to end the inning. He immediately busted out of the batter’s box upon hitting the line drive, seemingly hunting a triple the entire way.

The Blue Jays’ relay to third base beat Bellinger by half a second, and the play comically ended with the Dodgers’ National League MVP candidate having his pants fall down. Bellinger wore a sheepish smile as he was helped to his feet by the umpire.

Teammates in the dugout had a good chuckle and Bellinger was showered with loud ‘MVP’ chants as he walked off the field.

Along with becoming the Dodgers’ first player with 100 RBI in a season since Gonzalez, Bellinger set a career high by reaching the benchmark. The accomplishment was another in what’s been a wildly successful season for the 24-year-old.

His 42 home runs additionally are a career high, besting the 39 he hit in 2017, which was accompanied by 97 RBI. Bellinger became the youngest player in Dodgers franchise history to hit 40 home runs in one year and tied with Gary Sheffield (2000) for organization’s fastest player to do so by reaching it in 118 games.

Earlier this season, Bellinger reached 100 career home runs in his 401st game to break Mike Piazza’s Dodgers record (422 games).
