Dodgers News: Edward Paredes Outrighted To Triple-A Oklahoma City After Clearing Waivers

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a minor roster move last week when they claimed left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup off waivers from the Colorado Rockies to add to their bullpen depth.

As a corresponding move to get Rosscup on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers chose to designated fellow southpaw reliever Edward Paredes. The biggest reason the Dodgers felt the need to add someone like Rosscup to the organization was because of Paredes’ and others’ struggles this season.

He has appeared in 15 games for the Dodgers in 2018, going 2-0 with a 5.87 ERA, 5.61 FIP and 1.17 WHIP. Paredes collected eight strikeouts against two walks across 7.2 innings pitched.

He was mainly used to get left-handed hitters out, but lefties put up a slashline of .176/.300/.353, which is good, but not dominant.

The 31-year-old Paredes cleared waivers and will remain in the organization and head back to Triple-A Oklahoma City, via Ken Gurnick of MLB.com:

This is good news for the Dodgers as although he hasn’t been all that effective this year, Paredes still can provide depth and Major League experience if his number is called upon again.

He has fared much better with Oklahoma City this season, going 2-2 with a 2.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, 15 walks and 24 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.
