The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they have designated right-handed pitcher Daniel Corcino for assignment.
The move was made to make room on the 40-man roster for reliever Dylan Floro, who was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers also received Zach Neal and international signing bonus pool space from the Reds in exchange for Minor League pitchers James Marinan and Aneurys Zabala.
Corcino has had two different stints with the Dodgers in his career, with the second coming when they signed him to a Minor League deal in 2017.
He had his contract selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier this season and appeared in two games at the big league level. In four innings across those two games, he gave up four hits and two runs (one earned), good for a 2.25 ERA. He earned his first career Major League save on June 12 when he tossed the final three innings of a 12-5 win over the Texas Rangers.
The 27-year-old has spent most of his season with Oklahoma City, posting a 2.94 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 13 games (nine starts). He has struck out 49 hitters compared to 24 walks in 49 innings.
If he clears waivers then there is a chance he remains in the Dodgers organization, although he will likely get claimed by someone given his success this season.
