The Miami Marlins honored former starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis prior to their series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Willis was inducted into the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame in recognition of his five seasons with the club. The stretch included a National League Rookie of the Year Award, two All-Star Game selections, and a World Series championship in 2003.
The left-hander had a 68-54 record with a 3.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 757 strikeouts across 162 appearances in his Florida Marlins career. Willis was traded by the Marlins in the 2007 offseason and would go on to play for three other teams in his career.

The festivities included a speech from Willis to the Miami crowd in his freshly donned Marlins teal jacket. Among those in attendance were some of Willis’ former teammates, including Edwin Jackson, Antonio Alfonseca, Álex González, Mike Lowell, Luis Castillo, Jeff Conine and Juan Pierre.
The original D-Train crew, a representation of the left-hander’s moniker, was also on hand to celebrate.
More than 20 years ago, Rob Marcello, his brother Doug and longtime friend Kevin were part of the original D-Train crew in the stands.

Willis became the second former Marlins great to be honored by the organization this season. Josh Beckett was inducted into the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame on Sept. 6 as the Miami took on the Chicago Cubs.
Dontrelle Willis continues broadcast work
Willis has continued his role as a Fox Sports studio analyst and Apple TV+ game analyst this season, in addition to working in the studio and booth as an analyst for SportsNet LA. Willis previously served in that role with SportsNet LA from 2022-23 as well.
After finishing the road trip with the Dodgers, Willis is going to be part of the “Friday Night Baseball” stream on Apple TV+ for the series opener against the San Francisco Giants.
The Dodgers hired Willis as a studio analyst in 2022. He has continued to make appearances in that role ever since, in addition to calling some games in 2026.
