After an off day on Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue their road trip with the opener of a two-game series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PT, which comes less than four hours after the MLB trade deadline. The Dodgers were active during the day, acquiring Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers and trading Ryan Yarbrough to the Toronto Blue Jays for Kevin Kiermaier.

L.A. had previously traded for Tommy Edman, Michael Kopech and Amed Rosario on Monday. None of the new additions are active yet, and Freddie Freeman remains on family emergency leave.

That has Cavan Biggio making another start at first base, which he’s done for each of the four games Freeman has missed thus far.

The Padres made several deals as well, adding setup man Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays. Their blockbuster was acquiring All-Star closer Tanner Scott from the Miami Marlins.

The moves position the teams for an exciting National League West race. The Dodgers enter Tuesday with a 63-44 record and 6.5-game lead over the Padres in the standings.

Tyler Glasnow makes his 20th start for the Dodgers and second since coming off the injured list. In his first outing back against the San Francisco Giants, he gave up two runs on four hits over five innings pitched.

“I don’t know, I’m not quite sure,” Glasnow answered when asked if the layoff caused some inconsistency with his mechanics. “I just know it was hard to time up. Each pitch kind of felt different. I didn’t really get into a good rhythm.

“But hopefully, I can just take the adjustments this week, go into preparing this week and can figure it out next outing.”

Glasnow is 8-6 with a 3.47 ERA, 2.93 FIP, 0.96 WHIP and 11.6 strikeouts per nine in 114 innings this season. He is six innings away from tying the career high he set last year with the Rays.

Glasnow owns a 2.12 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in five career games against the Padres (two starts). He has allowed three runs in 12 innings when facing them this season.

San Diego counters with Matt Waldron, who looks to continue what has been a solid season. He carries a 6-9 record, 3.64 ERA, 3.80 FIP and 1.15 WHIP in 118.2 innings pitched (21 starts).

The right-hander has fared well against the Dodgers this year, posting a 2.61 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 10.1 innings of work.

David Peralta is in the Padres lineup and faces the Dodgers for the first time since spending the 2023 season with the team.
