The Los Angeles Dodgers had their modest two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday and now look to avoid what would be a disappointing series loss to the Miami Marlins. That also would amount to a losing record for the Dodgers on their seven-game road trip.

They aim to rebound behind Landon Knack, who himself is coming off a subpar performance. Knack labored through just two innings last week against the Atlanta Braves as he allowed five runs on seven hits in what was the shortest start of his young career.

Despite struggling through that start, Knack remains under consideration for the Dodgers’ postseason rotation.

Overall this season he’s 2-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 12 games (10 starts) for the Dodgers.

Knack is opposed by Ryan Weathers, who is enjoying the best season of his career. The left-hander enters 3-5 with a 3.55 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 13 starts this year.

Wednesday’s start is Weathers’ first for the Marlins since June 7 because of a left index finger strain that had him on the 60-day injured list.

The Dodgers have some familiarity with Weathers from his time with the San Diego Padres. That includes Weathers memorably making his MLB debut in 2020 National League Division Series.

During the regular season, the 24-year-old is 0-2 with a 4.62 ERA in six games (five starts) against the Dodgers.

Mookie Betts is starting at second base for the first time since May 29. The game is Betts’ first in the infield since June 16.

Miguel Rojas was in the initial Dodgers lineup before being scratched due to right leg soreness.

Prior to the game the Dodgers activated Joe Kelly off the 15-day injured list and selected the contract of Zach Logue. Bobby Miller and Michael Grove were optioned as the corresponding roster moves.

Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Logue on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.
