Dodgers Visiting White House To Celebrate 2024 World Series Title

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers accepted an invitation from President Trump to celebrate their 2024 World Series title with the customary visit to the White House.

The Dodgers plan to meet with the president in recognition of the eighth World Series championship in franchise history on Monday, April 7. That coincides with the start of a series against the Washington Nationals as part of a six-game road trip.

Additionally, the Dodgers announced some members of the organization will visit Capitol Hill on April 8.

“The Dodgers look forward to visiting the White House and celebrating our title,” the team said in a statement.

“It’s certainly a huge honor to get the invitation to the White House,” manager Dave Roberts said. “It allows us to celebrate our 2024 championship. To my understanding, every World Series champion gets that honor.”

The Dodgers last were at the White House during the 2021 season, which was a visit that quickly became overshadowed by MLB placing Trevor Bauer on the restricted list amid an investigation into sexual assault allegations.

The Dodgers otherwise being at the White House represented one of their first customary celebrations for the 2020 team. They weren’t permitted to have a World Series parade because of the pandemic, and the ring ceremony at Dodger Stadium only had reduced attendance.

Joe Kelly steals spotlight in Dodgers’ White House visit

Among the highlights when the Dodgers went to the White House to celebrate with President Biden was Joe Kelly wearing a Mariachi outfit.

“I saw Joe in the morning at breakfast at the hotel. It was more of a smile with a head shake,” Roberts said at the time. “Unexpected, but not surprised by the outfit. Just seemed pretty fitting.”

Kelly later explained he needed to wear the charro jacket and matching pants because he had forgotten a suit for the occasion.
