Dodgers Video: Yasiel Puig Throws Out Yangervis Solarte, Makes Leaping Catch At Wall

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ win against the San Diego Padres on Friday night featured a little bit of everything, with Cody Bellinger and Yasiel Puig providing the most-thrilling highlights.

Bellinger slugged two home runs; his first giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, and his second putting the game well beyond reach in the ninth inning. As for Puig, he showed off his arm, running and leaping ability in the comeback win.

With runners at the corners and one out in the fourth inning, he threw out Yangervis Solarte by a mile on his attempt to go from first base to third base on Ryan Schimpf’s RBI single. While a run scored to tie the game, Puig’s alert play prevented the inning from becoming bigger for the Padres.

Then in the fifth, Puig made a running catch on a drive to right-center field to rob Cory Spangenberg of a hit and end the inning. However, Puig’s final highlight was arguably hist.

The Dodgers were leading, 4-2, in the eighth inning with Austin Hedges representing the tying run at the plate. Hedges lifted a fly ball to deep right field that Puig tracked down and made a leaping catch at the wall for the third out.
