Dodgers Video: Trayce Thompson Allows Walk-Off Home Run Off His Glove

Trayce Thompson was among the unsung heroes for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, though saw his 2016 campaign cut short due to injury. Thompson attempted to play through back discomfort, only to make the injury worse.

It was eventually discovered he had multiple fractured vertebrae. After an offseason spent rehabbing, which the Dodgers were extremely cautious with, Thompson began his spring behind other players.

That seemingly threw off any rhythm Thompson could have established, as he struggled out of the gate with Triple-A Oklahoma City and in brief stints with the Dodgers.

Thompson has recently righted the ship with OKC, though was part of an unfortunate play in their walk-off loss to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday night.

With one out and the winning run on first base, Dustin Garneau lifted a flyball to deep center field. Thompson appeared to have a read as he made his way up the hill in center.

There was a brief stumble as he approached the wall, which may have played a factor in the ball hitting off Thompson’s glove and carrying over the fence for a walk-off home run. While Thompson dropped to his knees, Garneau flashed a sheepish smile as he rounded the bases.
