While MLB players are not allowed to train at team facilities during the ongoing MLB lockout, they are still finding ways to prepare for the 2022 regular season.

Mookie Betts was previously seen in an Instagram video at M3 Baseball Training Facility in Tennessee, where he began his offseason hitting program. Now, Alex Vesia has become the latest Los Angeles Dodgers player to post a video of his offseason training, which he shared on Twitter.

Vesia’s video shows him throwing two fastballs, a slider and a changeup while also having a hitter stand in the box on two of his pitches.

After entering 2021 as a relatively unknown pitcher who was just acquired from the Miami Marlins, Vesia became an important part of the Dodgers bullpen and looks to build off his strong rookie season.

He started the season slowly but after he was recalled in July he became one of the best relievers in the league. From his recall to the end of the season, only three pitchers in MLB with at least 20 innings had an ERA lower than Vesia’s 0.92 mark in 29.1 innings.

Because of his success, Vesia established himself as one of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ high-leverage options down the stretch.

He also continued to play a key role for the Dodgers into the postseason. The left-hander appeared in seven games and struck out seven hitters while only allowing one run, which came in his first postseason outing.

Vesia primed for big season

Vesia finished the 2021 season throwing 40 innings with a 2.25 ERA, 4.22 FIP, 12.15 strikeouts per nine and 4.95 walks per nine.

Going into this season, Vesia should be the Dodgers’ go-to left-handed reliever and someone they rely on to get them important outs throughout the year.
