Dodgers Updates: Will Smith Facing ‘Big Week’ & Tyler Glasnow’s Plan

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers are welcoming back Blake Snell on Tuesday as they continue to inch toward getting their roster healthy for the stretch run into the postseason.

Elsewhere for the Dodgers, they continue to await the returns of Will Smith, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Treinen, Will Klein and Ben Casparius. Newcomer Kris Bubic is also making progress toward coming off the 60-day injured list for his Dodgers debut.

Dodgers updates

Will Smith

Arguably the biggest absence the Dodgers have navigated this year, Smith is pain-free and poised to hit on the field for the first time as part of his rehab progression.

“Will is supposed to do some flips on the field [Monday], do some throwing, the weight room stuff,” manager Dave Roberts said. “Each day it’s been better, so this is going to be a big week for Will, and my expectation is that he should be taking some pitching, some coaches’ batting practice, at some point in time this week.”

Smith started a hitting progression at the end of July and also was lifting weights and playing catch. At that point, Roberts estimated Smith was three or four weeks from being ready to return.

The final hurdle will be completing a rehab assignment.

Tyler Glasnow

Also having missed multiple months, Glasnow has completed two starts on a rehab assignment thus far and appears to be halfway through it.

“He’s going to do four (innings) and 60 (pitches), and then there’ll be a five and 75,” Roberts said. “And then hopefully three starts from now he’ll be back with us.”

Blake Snell’s plan

As for Snell, Roberts set the goal at five innings and around 75 to 80 pitches in his first start off the injured list. Roberts added that it would be “great” if Snell manages to complete five innings against the Kansas City Royals.

“Then I think that we should be able to treat him like a normal starter, given he has an extra day or two in between those starts,” Roberts explained.

The outing is going to be Snell’s second start of the season with the Dodgers. He labored in his 2026 debut and landed back on the injured list because of left elbow trouble that ultimately required surgery to remove loose bodies.
