With MLB implementing a 13-pitcher limit on active rosters Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers are facing multiple decisions in order to comply.
While it already was apparent the team would add a position player to their active roster, Mookie Betts suffering a fracture in his right ribs and Eddy Alvarez not getting off to the best start playing right field, has created a specific need.
“We’re going to get an outfielder,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday’s 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers are focused on trading for a right-handed outfielder who could platoon with Alvarez:

The report further supports comments Roberts made prior to the series finale against the Guardians when he noted the Dodgers were eyeing a right-handed position player and were evaluating options both inside and outside the organization.
The Dodgers needing a right-handed hitting outfielder was created in part by trading AJ Pollock to the Chicago White Sox for Craig Kimbrel. Though, Pollock never played right field during his three seasons with the Dodgers.
L.A. conceivably could move Chris Taylor to right field, but all signs point to the team not being keen on the possibility.
Potential Dodgers trade targets
If the Dodgers were to make a trade for a platoon outfielder, potential candidates include Dylan Moore, Harold Ramirez, Brandon Drury, Victor Robles and Hunter Dozier, among others.
