The Los Angeles Dodgers are yet to address multiple needs as the MLB trade deadline looms on Tuesday at 3 p.m. PT, but they continue to be tied to various possibilities.

There’s a general belief the Dodgers are focused on starting pitching and finding an impact outfielder, but the bullpen and third base have come into focus of late as well. The Dodgers reportedly are interested in an Isaac Paredes trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Chicago Cubs’ Nico Hoerner and Luis Rengifo of the Los Angeles Angels are believed to be Dodgers trade targets as well.

According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers also have interest in trading for Tommy Edman as well:

Among the options the Dodgers have a noted interest in, according to league sources: St. Louis Cardinals utilityman Tommy Edman.

Edam has yet to play this season and currently is on the 60-day injured list as he recovers from offseason wrist surgery. His rehab process was delayed by a sprained right ankle that was treated with an anti-inflammatory shot but still forced Edman to be temporarily shut down because of pain and swelling.

Edman, 29, is under team control through the 2025 season by way of a two-year, $16.5 million contract he signed this past January to avoid arbitration.

How would Tommy Edman fit on Dodgers roster?

The switch-hitter would not only help shore up shortstop for the Dodgers, but Edman also has experience playing second base, third base and all three outfield positions. Though, Edman has only playing left field sparingly in his career thus far.

The 29-year-old nevertheless would represent a boost to the bench and be an option for the Dodgers up the middle, with center field a trouble spot for the team.

What’s unclear, however, is how motivated the St. Louis Cardinals are to complete an Edamn trade as they are just two games back of the final Wild Card spot in the National League postseason bracket.
