The Los Angeles Dodgers played their fourth intrasquad game of Summer Camp on Thursday, extending into the sixth inning after playing just three innings the night prior.

Mitchell White and Victor Gonzalez made starts for the respective teams, and the likes of Joe Kelly, Caleb Ferguson and Brusdar Graterol were also among those to pitch. Gonzalez and the “visiting” team came away with a 4-1 win.

Corey Seager went 3-for-4, reaching in his first three plate appearances with a double, single and double. He likely would have had an RBI if Joc Pederson was not held at third base on one of Seager’s doubles off the wall in left-center field.

Later in the game, Will Smith sent a hanging breaking ball from Josh Sborz into the left-field pavilion. After bursting onto the scene last year, Smith is expected to again serve as the club’s primary starter at catcher.

“My body feels really good,” Smith said earlier this week. “It’s just getting those catching legs under me and trying to ramp that up as fast as possible without wearing down too quick. Get ready to catch however many games they throw my way.”

Let Chico hit

With the Dodgers short on position players due to absences in camp, they have turned to clubhouse attendant Francisco “Chico” Herrera to man left field in intrasquad games. “He called off our MVP, so we have to go over communication with him because the center fielder has priority,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts joked on Wednesday.

“And he botched one play, turned a single into a triple. But it’s good to have him out here. I will say this, it’s really good to see everyone doing more. Guys are helping in any way they can.”

Herrera has gained support on social media it led to Justin Turner campaigning to allow him to hit during the intrasquad games, via a t-shirt created by Kourtney Turner.
