In the immediate aftermath of their Spring Training finale being cut short due to a water main break, Los Angeles Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten didn’t yet have answers but was confident Dodger Stadium would host Opening Day on Thursday without issue.

By Wednesday, the organization determined the reason behind the field flooding and issued the following statement: “The Dodger organization has identified the cause of the on field flooding last night, which ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

There were issues with the drainage system at Dodger Stadium. The club has made repairs and has thoroughly examined the entire system. The team is confident that there will be no further issues.”

After a 32-minute delay, the game was officially called, giving the Dodgers a 4-3 win in five innings.

To accommodate those who were in attendance for the final game of the exhibition Freeway Series, the Dodgers are also offering discounted tickets for their home series with the Miami Marlins (April 23-25).

Ticketholders from the Freeway Series finale are being provided with a one-time code to purchase up to four tickets on the Loge level ($20) and Reserve level ($10), representing up to an 80 percent savings. The offer is valid through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4.
