Dodgers Roster: Matt Sauer Recalled, Noah Davis Optioned

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Noah Davis to Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled Matt Sauer prior to Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins.

Davis is in the midst of a whirlwind stretch since originally joining the Dodgers roster on April 18. He then was optioned to Oklahoma City on April 26 when the Dodgers activated Yoendrys Gómez after claiming him off waivers from the New York Yankees.

But Davis was back in the Dodgers clubhouse two days later due to getting recalled as the corresponding move to Tyler Glasnow going on the 15-day injured list because of right shoulder inflammation. It was an expected outcome for Glasnow after he came out of a start on Sunday in the second inning due to the shoulder injury.

The Dodgers went into extra innings against the Marlins but Davis was not among their four relievers used in the walk-off win.

Davis has appeared in three games for the Dodgers so far this season, going 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. However, he didn’t allow an earned run in two of those three games.

Prior to this year, Davis pitched in the Majors for the Colorado Rockies over parts of three seasons from 2022-2024. During that span he went 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, 5.65 FIP and 1.95 WHIP in 18 games (six starts). Davis appeared in a career-high nine games for the Rockies last season.

Matt Sauer part of Dodgers bullpen game

Sauer is up with the Dodgers for a third time this year. His latest opportunity comes with likely being among those who will appear in a bullpen game for the club on Tuesday night. Jack Dreyer is making the start in an opener role.

Sauer’s only appearance thus far saw him allow one run over 1.2 innings against the Washington Nationals on April 7.

The Dodgers signed Sauer to a Minor League contract during the offseason. He received a non-roster invite to Spring Training and was included on the Dodgers’ Tokyo Series travel roster.

The 26-year-old made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals last season, appearing in 14 games.
