The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned J.P. Feyereisen to Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled Justin Wrobleski prior to their series rubber match against the Athletics.
Feyereisen returns to the Minors for a second time this month. He was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on May 1, then added onto their roster five days later.
Feyereisen’s stint with the Dodgers was brief as he got optioned to Oklahoma City on May 7 as the corresponding move to Landon Knack getting recalled in order to join the rotation. But Feyereisen returned six days later because the Dodgers put Roki Sasaki on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder impingement.
Feyereisen has appeared in just two games for the Dodgers thus far, going 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and 4.50 WHIP. He’s also made just one appearance for the Comets thus far.
Feyereisen last pitched on Tuesday night, which was a rough appearance as the right-hander gave up three runs on six hits, including one home run, across two innings of work in the Dodgers’ lopsided loss to the A’s.
Overall, this marks Feyereisen’s second go around with the Dodgers organization. He originally joined in December 2022, when the Dodgers traded Minor League pitcher Jeff Belge to the Tampa Bay Rays for Feyereisen, who at the time was facing a prolonged recovery from right shoulder surgery.
Feyereisen didn’t pitch at all during the 2023 season and appeared in 10 games for the Dodgers last year. He went on to sign a Minor League contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks this past offseason. Feyereisen pitched in two games for Arizona before getting designated for assignment.
Justin Wrobleski returns
Wrobleski is back up for a third stint with the Dodgers this season. He was on the Opening Day roster for the Tokyo Series and also got recalled last month to make a spot start in place of the injured Blake Snell.
Wrobleski allowed eight runs over five innings and took the loss against the Washington Nationals.
While with Oklahoma City this season, the southpaw has gone 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in six starts. Although Wrobleski is a starter, he figures to take on a relief role Thursday night as the Dodgers utilize a bullpen game.
Matt Sauer is scheduled to start, and another of the Dodgers’ multi-inning options, Ben Casparius, doesn’t figure to be available after pitching Wednesday.
Wrobleski made his MLB debut last season and went 1-2 with a 5.70 ERA in eight games (six starts).
