The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Jaime Schultz and optioned JT Chargois back to Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Thursday’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Chargois returns to the Minors after joining the club Tuesday.

He appeared in consecutive games — both of which were losses for the Dodgers. Chargois issued a walk, collected a strikeout and retired two of three batters faced in his regular-season debut. He followed that by allowing a two-run home run to Marcell Ozuna in the eighth inning Wednesday.

Chargois was recalled in a corresponding roster move to Hyun-Jin Ryu landing on the 10-day injured list because of a strained left groin. He provided a fresh arm in the bullpen, which is a role that now falls to Schultz.

The right-hander made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays last season, going 2-2 with a 5.64 ERA, 5.40 FIP and 1.15 WHIP in 22 games (one start). Schultz was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade that sent Minor League pitcher Caleb Sampen to the Rays in January.

Schultz went 0-1 and allowed five runs (four earned) in 7.2 innings pitched across nine Cactus League appearances this past spring. He issued a walk, struck out three and allowed one run over 1.1 innings of his only appearance for Oklahoma City.
