The Los Angeles Dodgers returned home Monday night coming off a 10-game road trip and plenty of electricity over Manny Machado making his home debut since being traded during the All-Star break. However, the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers hit a snag in the top of the second inning.

The power suddenly went out at Dodger Stadium, sending the game into a 23-minute delay before play resumed. LA Department of Water and Power quickly sent a message out on social media that crews were working to resolve the matter.

The LA DWP later clarified Dodger Stadium receives power from separate circuits, and the first failed which prompted an immediate switch to the second to restore electricity.

Following the delay, the Dodgers explained what caused the power outage at Dodger Stadium, via Dodger Insider:

Players came off the field while awaiting a resolution, and the break may have been of benefit for Kenta Maeda as he threw 34 pitches in the first inning.

While it wasn’t nearly as dire and though it did not cause the game to be suspended, the situation was reminiscent of the broken water main at Dodger Stadium that closed out the Dodgers’ preseason schedule.
