The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday transferred Rob Segedin to the 60-day disabled list. It was a corresponding move on the 40-man roster to making room for the acquisition of left-handed pitcher Jason Wheeler in a trade with the Minnesota Twins.

Segedin had been on the 10-day disabled list since April 19 with a right big toe strain. His injury was later classified as turf toe, and a possible return date remained unclear.

More recently, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed Segedin was set for surgery to remove a bone spur from his right wrist. The operation was completed May 31, and Segedin is expected to miss four to six weeks, hence the paper move.

The 28-year-old went 1-for-4 over two games with the Dodgers. He sustained the toe injury on a check-swing in his lone start. Over 40 games with the Dodgers last season, Segedin batted .233/.301/.370 with two doubles, one triple, two home runs and 12 RBI.

In nine games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, he hit .324/.342/.541 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI.

In addition to Segedin, the Dodgers currently have Andre Ethier, Yimi Garcia, Scott Kazmir, Brock Stewart and Andrew Toles on the 60-day disabled list. Garcia and Toles are out for the remainder of the season.
