Dodgers News: Rams Gift Signed Jersey To Alex Vesia In Honor Of Late Daughter

4 Min Read

The 2025 season was a special one for the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning their second straight World Series. But it unfortunately didn’t come without some tragedy for Alex Vesia.

After the team advanced to the World Series, Vesia was surprisingly left off their roster due to a personal matter.

The Dodgers brought home the trophy, but Vesia wasn’t there to celebrate and he and his wife Kayla later announced that their baby daughter Sterling had died on Oct. 26.

That is an unfathomable tragedy for a husband and wife to go through during the birth of their first child, but the L.A. and Dodgers communities have done what they can to wrap their arms around the Vesias during this difficult time.

Included in that is the Los Angeles Rams, who gifted Vesia a jersey signed by all of the players ahead of their NFC Championship matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Vesia appreciated the gesture and in turn, expressed his support for the Rams as they went into their most important game of the season.

Unfortunately, the Rams weren’t able to get it done up in Seattle, falling short of being the second major sports team in L.A. to compete for a title over the last year.

Regardless of what happens on the field though, it is great to see the Rams want to do something nice for Vesia and his wife during this time, even if it’s just a small gesture.

Dodgers exercised club option for Alex Vesia

The Dodgers have had a successful offseason to this point as they look to go for their third straight World Series championship. They signed two of the best free agents available in Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz on shorter-term deals, but they also chose to bring back some of their own as well.

One of the players who falls into the latter category is Vesia, who went into the offseason with a $3.65 million club option for 2026.

Vesia has been arguably the Dodgers’ best reliever for the past two seasons and in 2025 finished with a 3.02 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 80 strikeouts in 59.2 innings in the regular season.

With that type of production, picking up Vesia’s team option was a no-brainer decision for the Dodgers and they wasted no time making it at the start of the offseason. With that club option being picked up though, Vesia will be able to test free agency for the first time after the 2026 season.
