The Los Angeles Dodgers had five selections to the 2021 MLB All-Star Game and they were accompanied at Coors Field by manager Dave Roberts and his coaching staff. While the 2021 MLB All-Stars were friendly with one another, the Dodgers drew the ire of fans in attendance.

Walker Buehler, Chris Taylor and Justin Turner were loudly booed during introductions of the National League pitchers and reserve players. Roberts and Max Muncy — the starting designated hitter — then received the same treatment when the NL lineup was announced.

The presumed pro-Colorado Rockies crowd also unleashed its vitriol towards New York Yankees ace Gerritt Cole. San Diego Padres closer Mark Melancon and San Francisco Giants starter Kevin Gausman, both of whom are Colorado natives, also were not spared.

The Dodgers took it in stride and Muncy revealed there had been some discussions about how the crowd would receive them, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:

Turner made light of the situation with a social media post on Instagram that included a thank you in the caption.

Muncy went 0-for-2 before being pinch-hit for by Turner, who singled in his second at-bat. Max Muncy, the lone Los Angeles Dodgers player who was in the NL lineup by way of being selected for designated hitter by manager Dave Roberts, went 0-for-2.

Chris Taylor appeared in the sixth inning as a defensive replacement in center field and finished the game. He was 0-for-2 with a strikeout.

Buehler, who earned a second career All-Star selection, did not take the mound. He’s slated to start for the Dodgers on Saturday.

Dodgers next to host All-Star Game

After the cancellation of the Midsummer Classic last year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Dodgers will at last get to host the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium in 2022. It will mark their first time doing so since 1980.
