The Los Angeles Dodgers have several players who are expected to participate in Players Weekend (Aug. 25-27), when MLB is allowing for individualism to be expressed through nicknames on the back of jerseys, specially designed caps and cleats, and more.

Some of the Dodgers’ participants — Cody Bellinger, Kiké Hernandez, Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner, for example — were to be expected. Others — primarily Chase Utley — came as a surprise. That Corey Seager is electing to not change the name on the back of his jersey also did not come as a shock.

As it stands, Kenley Jansen will have “MA’MONTRO” on his jersey during the special weekend. However, the Dodgers closer intends to seek change, according to Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“Kenleyfornia” is play on Jansen’s entrance song, “California Love” by 2Pac and Dr. Dre. Jansen recently hung a “Kenleyfornia Republic” flag in the clubhouse at Dodger Stadium.

Considering the league is already selling Players Weekend merchandise, Jansen may be denied his request. While the Dodgers are spending the bulk of August on the road, they will host the Milwaukee Brewers during the designated dates for the special weekend.

No matter the jersey or nickname, Jansen figures to be his usual dominant self. The 29-year-old has converted 29 of 30 saves this season, while yielding a 1.28 ERA and 0.67 WHIP. Jansen has collected 77 strikeouts against five walks in 49.1 innings of work.
