Now one month past the originally scheduled Opening Day for the 2020 Major League Baseball season, players and fans alike have sought out other means to help fill the void during the indefinite delay.

The wait for the season has led to the creation of MLB The Show Players League, which has one player from every team participating. Gavin Lux is representing the Los Angeles Dodgers and entering play Saturday remains on track to qualify for the playoffs.

Elsewhere, MLB Network Radio conducted a contest over the past month to determine who has the best hair in baseball. Multiple Dodgers were part of the fan-polling, including Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May.

The rookie right-hander advanced all the way to the championship round, where he squared off with Dansby Swanson of the Atlanta Braves. Swanson jumped out to an early lead this week but Dodgers fans got behind May and culminated with him earning the unofficial honor (55% vote).

During an interview with John Hartung on SportsNet LA, May solicited votes from Dodgers fans and explained his desire to win the lighthearted competition stems from being uber-competitive.

As for matters on the field, May has completely recovered from a side injury that limited him throughout Spring Training. He suffered a setback with the discomfort and never managed to appear in a Cactus League game before the remainder of Spring Training was cancelled.

May noted that as other pitchers have scaled back their throwing due to the uncertain schedule and timeline with respect to when the 2020 season might begin, he has essentially made up the lost time and now is even with them.

Whether the 22-year-old will be included on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster still remains unclear. While May was dealing with his injury, manager Dave Roberts said it was likely he would begin the season as a member of the Triple-A Oklahoma City starting rotation.
