The Los Angeles Dodgers were honored as the Team of the Year, as chosen by the Sports Business Journal (SBJ).
This is the second time the Dodgers have won the honor, with the first coming in 2021 following their 2020 World Series victory.
SBJ selected the Dodgers because of their status as back-to-back World Series champions, while also building “a business juggernaut in the process.”
The Dodgers drew more than four million fans in 2025, making them the first MLB franchise to do so since 2008.
SBJ also notes that the Dodgers’ estimated sponsorship revenue exceeded $200 million in 2025, a 17% increase from 2024. They also have 76 partners, with an average sponsorship deal size reportedly about five times the league average.
Of those 76 sponsors, 20 are Japanese brands, as the team has pushed to become not just an L.A. staple, but an international one as well. The 2025 World Series averaged 12.1 million viewers in Japan, and the Dodgers have continued to increase their reach in that market.
The Dodgers added UNIQLO as their field sponsor after the Team of the Year consideration period, further cementing their worthiness for the award.
Dodgers owner Mark Walter, chief executive officer Stan Kasten and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen accepted the award at the Sports Business Awards on Wednesday night.
In addition to the Dodgers winning the SBJ Team of the Year award, Game 7 of the 2025 World Series was also named the Event of the Year. Although the Dodgers came out victorious in that game, MLB accepted the award.
Walter was also named SBJ’s Executive of the Year. Walter is the owner and chairman of the Dodgers, L.A. Lakers, L.A. Sparks, Andretti Global and the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
Additionally, Walter owns stakes in the Premier League club Chelsea, the Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, and part of the Billie Jean King Cup.
Dodgers holding second Hello Kitty Night
The Dodgers are holding a second Hello Kitty Night of the 2026 season on Wednesday, Aug. 12., when they host the Kansas City Royals in the finale of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
The Hello Kitty giveaway item for the second night will be announced at a later date.
Hello Kitty Night has been one of the most popular promotions at Dodger Stadium in recent years, and it has led the team to expand the event, now holding two separate dates each season.
