Mookie Betts hosted an official launch event for LGND, a new premium baseball glove company he co-founded with lifelong friends Cameron Lewis, Brandon McPhail and Andrew Montgomery.
The block party was held at The Yard in Fullerton, Calif., and the day included a variety of vendors and food trucks. But the highlight undoubtedly was Betts and Miguel Rojas participating in various drills with the estimated 500 youth campers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers teammates rotated playing second base to help turn double plays, and Betts later hit fly balls.

“Just kind of showing them some of the things that I do,” Betts explained. “Just having fun with the kids. That’s what it’s about.”
Betts considered the day and his involvement a “thank you” to fans who have supported him throughout his career and now as LGND customers.
“To see them come out and support me, means the world to me,” Betts added. “I’m very appreciative.”
Rojas’ involvement not only stemmed from having developed a friendship with Betts while serving as a mentor at shortstop, but the veteran also has a connection through his former agent.
Former MLB agent and Beverly Hills Sports Council founder Rick Thurman, who represented Rojas, is the owner of Perfect Game. Rojas has invested into Perfect Game, which organizes the high-quality amateur events while providing meaningful opportunities and information to players, families, MLB organizations, college coaches and fans.
LGND is the official glove of Perfect Game. Under the landmark partnership, LGND is receiving year-round integration across Perfect Game events, digital platforms, athlete experiences and national programming.

The brand released two collections priced at $329 each: a MOOK Series and the MVRK Series.
The flagship MOOK Series is inspired directly by Betts’ experience as an elite defensive player and one of the few players in MLB history to be an All-Star as both an infielder and outfielder. Among other features, MOOK gloves include Betts’ signature stamp in the palm, 50 Tri-Star logo and are constructed with premium Japanese kip leather.
The MVRK Series delivers the same Japanese leather base, with distinct styling and a versatile design built for athletes who play multiple positions.
“You can customize the thickness, obviously all the words. It’s a player’s glove. You can design what you want on your hand. You can have your personality on your hand, which I feel like is important for baseball players because we don’t really get that many ways to show who we are,” Betts said.
“You have to have a glove to baseball, so that’s why I wanted it to be something that you can really create and make it yours.”
