Dodgers, Holly Robinson Peete Host Workshop For Autism Awareness Month

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers and actress Holly Robinson Peete recently hosted an event at Dodger Stadium along with the HollyRod Foundation to bring together more than 30 participants in celebration of Autism Awareness Month.

The sensory-friendly workshop was held to help foster creativity, self-expression and connection among children with autism. The event provided children with an opportunity to explore their artistic talents using water-soluble oil pastels, building confidence and developing communication skills through engaging, hands-on activities.

Teoscar Hernández, Tony Gonsolin and Jack Dreyer also interacted with the participants, and made friendship bracelets and artwork alongside them.

“For me to be able to go over there and be a little part of their life and try to make them feel even better and do some stuff with them, was pretty amazing,” Hernández said.

“Especially because I have a kid that is on the spectrum. So for me to be able to be part of somebody else’s life is pretty cool. I’m going to be here for any support that they need and want.”

The Hollyrod Foundation was founded in 1999 by Peete and her husband, Rodney. The foundation focuses on raising autism awareness and providing resources for families who have a loved one who has received an autism or Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis.

RJ Peete beloved member of Dodgers clubhouse

The Peetes are particularly active in raising awareness for autism as their son, RJ, was diagnosed when he was 3 years old.

RJ Peete is a Dodgers clubhouse attendant who is beloved by players and throughout the organization. Peete has been a Dodgers clubbie since the 2016 season. He carries out the same duties and tasks as other attendants who work under Dodgers clubhouse director Alex Torres.
