The Los Angeles Dodgers bats came alive Saturday afternoon at AT&T Park in the first game of their doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants, resulting in a 15-6 victory.
The scoring got started early, with the Dodgers breaking through for three runs in the first inning. They then added three more in the second and two more in the third and suddenly the route was on.
A lot of the damage was done by the top of the Dodgers order, with the first five hitters in the lineup all picking up at least two hits in the victory.
Chris Taylor set the table all game, going 3-for-6 with a walk, scoring four runs and driving in three of his own. While the Dodgers scored 15 runs, only one of them came on a home run and that was off the bat of Taylor.
Chase Utley also had himself a day, totaling four hits in five at-bats, with three of them being doubles to go along with a walk. Corey Seager, batting third in the lineup, went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson followed with big days of their own as well. Bellinger went 3-for-5, and Joc Pederson had the first four-hit game of his career. The pair of lefties combined for seven RBI.
Dodgers batters went an astounding 12-for-27 with runners in scoring position in the game. The 27 at-bats in that situation set a club record.
Walker Buehler got the job done on the mound after a rocky start to his second career Major League outing. He gave up two runs in the first inning but rebounded to make it through five innings to earn his first career victory as a starter.
