Dodgers Highlights: Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Will Smith & Chris Taylor Part Of Offensive Breakout Against Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a season-best eight-run inning on Friday night that propelled them to a 10-1 win over the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a six-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Mookie Betts broke the early scoreless tie with a two-out RBI double in the second inning. Betts went on to finish 3-for-4 with two doubles before being replaced by Joey Gallo late in the game.

The Dodgers remained ahead by the slim margin until their lineup got to Rockies starter Chad Kuhl in the fourth inning. Back-to-back singles by Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor set the table for Cody Bellinger’s first home run since August 21.

After Kuhl was chased from the game, Will Smith added an RBI single and Max Muncy followed that with a ground-rule double that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 6-0.

Trayce Thompson kept the rally going with an RBI base hit, and Taylor’s second single of the inning brought in two more runs.

Taylor had his fourth three-hit game of the season but first since June 26.

Prior to their win going final, the Dodgers secured home-field advantage through the World Series due to the Tampa Bay Rays defeating the Houston Astros.

Kershaw leads Dodgers pitching effort

Clayton Kershaw allowed five hits and issued two walks but held the Rockies scoreless over six innings. He improved to 4-0 with a 1.50 ERA in six starts since being reinstated from the 15-day injured list on Sept. 1.

Yency Almonte followed Kershaw by retiring the side in order in his second appearance off the IL, and David Price stranded a two-out single in the eighth. Kershaw and Price both reached 400 career games on Friay.

The Dodgers lost their shutout when Hanser Alberto allowed a run in the ninth inning.
