Dodgers Highlights: Freddie Freeman Leads Outburst Against Diamondbacks

Freddie Freeman had a game-high five RBI to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 14-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers bounced back from being shut out with 24 hits — one shy of tying a Los Angeles franchise record.

Like they have so often this season, Mookie Betts and Freeman combined to give the Dodgers an early lead. They did so against Humberto Castellanos with back-to-back doubles in the first inning.

Will Smith added an RBI single, and in the second inning, Chris Taylor hit an RBI double and Freeman contributed with a three-run home run. The homer was Freeman’s fourth of the season but first since April 24.

The Dodgers put another four-run inning together in the sixth, which again started with Freeman driving in Betts on a double.

Trea Turner, who already had extended his hitting streak to 18 games, brought Freeman in on a standup triple. Smith hit his second RBI single of the game and Cody Bellinger capped off the inning with an RBI ground-rule double.

Taylor hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, and Bellinger tacked on a two-run single in the ninth.

The Dodgers became the first team in the National League to reach 30 wins this season.

Freeman has 18 doubles through the first 44 games of the season, which tied Jackie Robinson for most in Dodgers franchise history.
