The Los Angeles Dodgers were led by their All-Stars in a 22-1 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks to set the stage for a rubber match at Dodger Stadium in the finale before the All-Star break.
With Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor on base and one out in the first inning, Max Muncy provided the Dodgers with an early lead by pulling a two-run double down the right-field line. Cody Bellinger and AJ Pollock then added to it by combining for back-to-back home runs.
Diamondbacks starter Caleb Smith ran into more trouble in the second inning as Walker Buehler led off with a base hit and Betts and Taylor both walked. Justin Turner then cleared the bases with his first career grand slam.
The Dodgers went quiet from there until Betts connected on a grand slam of his own. That gave the Dodgers nine this season, which is one away from tying the franchise record set in 2004. For Betts, it marked a fifth career grand slam.

David Peralta dropping a routine fly ball in left field led to the Dodgers’ power surge continuing in the inning as Zach McKinstry and Albert Pujols combined for back-to-back home runs.
The offensive onslaught continued in the eighth inning with Pollock hitting a second home run, Gavin Lux adding a three-run triple, and Pujols taking Josh Reddick deep for his 675th career homer.

The 22 runs tied a Los Angeles franchise record and are the most scored by any team at Dodger Stadium. Their eight home runs also tied a franchise mark.
